Ivy Boo Shu Lin

Background

Ivy is a graduate of the University of London, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Second Upper Class. She holds the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP), which she passed on her first attempt. Ivy was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2023.

Prior to joining the legal profession, Ivy worked as a paralegal handling motor vehicle accident claims, bodily injury matters, and property damage cases. She has represented insurance companies in preparing legal opinions on quantum and litigation exposure, reviewed medical reports and quantified injuries through compendia, conducted legal research for the preparation of statements of defence, and liaised with adjusters, insurers, insured parties, and claimants.

Ivy also completed a judicial internship at the High Court of Shah Alam, where she assisted the high court judges with legal research, attended criminal hearings, observed courtroom proceedings, and supported the preparation of draft judgments, including translation and transcription work.

Experience

Ivy has experience advising on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, with particular focus on equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate advisory. She has assisted in multiple corporate exercises, including initial public offerings on the ACE Market, transfers of listings to the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, due diligence exercises, and mergers and acquisitions.

Her work includes liaising extensively with principal advisers, reporting accountants, independent market researchers, and other stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of listing and corporate exercises, as well as conducting interviews with customers, suppliers, and directors. She is also experienced in reviewing prospectuses and corporate documents, including supporting documentation for regulatory submissions.

Ivy regularly advises on commercial and contractual matters, including drafting and reviewing share sale agreements, shareholders’ agreements, non-disclosure agreements, memorandums of understanding, term sheets, and construction agreements. She has also provided legal advisory, drafting support, and Chinese translation services to China-based multinational companies having operations in Malaysia.
