Ong Jia Wei
Background
Jia Wei holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2025. She is a Certified Mediator with the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR).
Beyond legal practice, Jia Wei has undertaken consulting and leadership roles, including participation in the McKinsey & Company Consulting Fellowship Programme and serving as an Associate Consultant in a pro bono consulting project in collaboration with BCG, where she contributed to strategic and operational recommendations for a non-profit organisation. Outside of work, she is an avid runner and has completed several half marathons, including the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Half Marathon 2025 and the Penang Bridge International Half Marathon 2023.

Experience
Jia Wei has experience across corporate, banking and finance, and construction dispute resolution matters. She assists on a broad range of corporate and transactional matters, including the review of commercial and financing agreements, preparation of facility agreements, security documents, and information memoranda, and supporting initial public offering (IPO) and acquisition-related matters. She has been involved in IPO exercises, including assisting in the preparation of due diligence questionnaires, coordinating and attending customer and supplier interviews, and contributing to due diligence reports covering tenancy, insurance, employment, and financing matters.
In addition to corporate and commercial work, Jia Wei assists in litigation and arbitration proceedings, including the preparation of drafts of interlocutory submissions, affidavits, and submissions on costs. She has supported construction and insurance-related disputes, including assisting in the drafting of insurance repudiation letters for construction defect claims and preparing cause papers for the enforcement of adjudication decisions involving substantial claims. She has also assisted in compiling expert reports and preparing quantum schedules in arbitration matters.
Jia Wei also has exposure to tax and regulatory advisory, having conducted legal research under the Income Tax Act 1967. Her experience is complemented by a background in transfer pricing, where she has assisted in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
