Background

Tiffany Cheok holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons) from the University of Bristol and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister-at-Law at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 2024. She was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2026, having completed her pupillage with Messrs Lee & Tengku Azrina in Johor Bahru, and was subsequently retained as a Legal Associate.

Tiffany Cheok is fluent in English, Chinese, and Malay, and is well-positioned to assist in matters involving cross-border elements, particularly those involving Chinese-speaking clients and counterparties.

Experience

Tiffany Cheok’s practice covers a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including the drafting and review of share sale agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and legal due diligence for corporate exercises. She advises on cross-border commercial arrangements between Malaysian and foreign entities, with experience in preparing shareholder agreements, confidentiality agreements, and due diligence reports.

She also assists in banking and finance transactions, with experience in construction and project financing as well as conventional and Islamic commercial financing documentation.

Prior to joining the firm, Tiffany Cheok served as a Legal Executive where she was involved in domestic and international dispute resolution matters, including commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution, with a particular focus on arbitration, mediation, and neutral evaluation.

Corporate and Commercial

Assisted in the legal due diligence exercise of Malaysian subsidiaries of a China-based company and contributed to the issuance of a formal legal opinion.
Participated in corporate restructuring and the merger and acquisition of twelve Malaysian entities.
Supported cross-border equity acquisitions and disposals, with responsibilities spanning the preparation of share sale agreements, shareholder agreements, confidentiality agreements, and due diligence reports.
Drafted, negotiated, and reviewed cross-border distributorship, supply, and service agreements between Chinese and Malaysian entities.

Banking and Finance

Assisted in the preparation of conventional and Islamic financing documentation for domestic transactions for corporate borrowers and customers.
Assisted in preparing financing documentation for banking facilities of approximately RM20 million, comprising fixed-term loans, bank guarantees, and forward exchange contracts, granted to a renowned property developer for the construction and development of a condominium project in Johor Bahru.
Contributed to the preparation of financing documentation for an additional RM6 million in banking facilities, further supporting the developer's project financing needs.
